George E. Payne, age 81, of Cumming passed away Sept. 11, 2015 at home following an extended
illness.
He was born April 15, 1934, in W. Va., a son of the late John D. Payne and Ida Payne.
He is also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Payne (1961-2002); his wife, Phyllis Payne (2003-2007); and his sister, Ann Thompkins of Florida.
He was retired from United American and Liberty National Insurance of Teays Valley, W.Va. Previous employments included being self-employed with Napa Auto Parts in Barboursville and Kenova, W. Va., and Top Value Stamps. He was a Masonic member. He was with the United States Army serving from 1957 to 1960. George attended West Virginia University.
George was a member of Cumming Baptist Church of Cumming and was previously a serving member of First Baptist Church in Hurricane, W. Va., for over 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Payne; one son, Gregory E. Payne of Cumming; one daughter, Lisa A. Stout of Bluffton, S.C.; granddaughters, Carly Payne, Greylin Payne of Cumming, Kendall Stout, Kailee Stout of Bluffton, S.C.; and brothers, John Payne, and David Payne; and his sister, Ruth Dunning.
Services were held at Ingram Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14. George will be laid to rest beside his wife, Joyce at Valley View Memorial Park in Hurricane, W.Va.
