George Winton Bagwell, age 90, of Cumming passed away Friday, Oct. 12, 2012. He was born June 12, 1922, to Bob and Graff Bagwell. Mr. Bagwell was a longtime member at Brookwood Baptist Church. After more than 37 years, he retired from Bostich-Autosoler, served on the advisory board for DeKalb Tech and Northeast Georgia Tech and had headed up the Junior Achievement Program. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II and was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Bagwell was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Graff Bagwell; brothers, Haldene Bagwell and Myron Bagwell.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beth Bagwell of Cumming; children, Carole and Howard Clayton of Cumming, Ronnie and Merry Bagwell of Winder, Jan and Larry Garner of Loganville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at Brookwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Donnie Nix and the Rev. Scott Huskins officiating. Interment followed in Brookwood Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brookwood Baptist Church Mission Fund, 2775 Brookwood Road, Cumming, GA 30041.
