Mrs. Grace Barrett Evans, age 95, of Cumming passed away Friday, March 5, 2010. Mrs. Evans was a lifelong member of Piedmont United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school there and in Atlanta for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. (Sell) Evans.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy E. Phillips; two foster sons, Keith and Kenneth Porter of Cumming; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Gladys Barrett of Powder Springs, Betty Neese of Acworth, Noel and Jim Page of Tampa, Joyce Powers of Florida; special niece, Donna Porter of Dahlonega; nieces and nephew, Gloria Elzey of Cumming, Connie Barrett of Atlanta, Sandra and Walter Harris of Lula; special family friend, Paul T. Madden of Cumming; several great-nieces, nephews and other relatives; also, the staff and friends of Tara Plantation.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 7, at 2 p.m. in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Brown and Brother Buster Stapp officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 6, from noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday, March 7, from noon until the hour of service.
