Mrs. Hazel Anne Fraser Sims, age 85, of Johns Creek passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Hazel was born March 10, 1927, in Atlanta, to the late Simon Alexander Fraser and Hazel McConaughy Fraser. She grew up on 5th Street and attended Girls High. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Queens College in Charlotte, N.C.
Hazel was a lifelong member of Central Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. Hazel was employed by DeKalb County Schools, working at Dresden and Laurel Ridge elementary schools. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially spending time at the lake or on family vacations.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Claude William (Bill) Sims Jr.; and her sister, Connie Riddle.
She is survived by her sister, Millie Walling; daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and George Woodward of Duluth, Donna and Jim Wade of Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Martha Sims of Monroe; grandchildren, Gina and Greg Woodward, David and Kristen Sims, Eli and Madelin Bell, Morgan and Blake Wade.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m. at H.M. Patterson and Son Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, with the Rev. Caroline Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, May 25, from 6-8 p.m.
