Helen Aloha DiLaura (Hundertmark)
Helen Aloha DiLaura (Hundertmark), of Cumming, formerly of Sun City, Calif., died Nov. 5, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Anthony DiLaura.
She was a highly intelligent, extremely talented woman, who was struck down with the ugly disease of Alzheimer's. Helen was born in July of 1924 in Bexar County, Texas.
She put high value on good posture, a properly set table, sheets with hospital corners and doing things right. She was meticulous in everything. Helen was one of the 1 percent who actually read the owner's manual to her computer.
Helen was a registered nurse, worked with the Red Cross during WWII, was a Master Graphologist, active member of Soroptimist club, skilled tailor, and much more. She walked on her treadmill every day to keep fit, and among her many words of advice, was "Never wear elastic waist pants, and you will always keep your figure."
Helen always told the truth, even when it might be painful or uncomfortable to hear. She didn't make excuses for her choices. She said "Tell someone your decision and then be quiet."
Helen was a modern, confident, working woman in a time where that wasn't the norm. She could bring home the bacon and fry it up in a pan!
Her family and friends said she was like a ray of sunshine when she walked in the room. She always had a smile and warm hello (especially for a handsome man).
