Holly Herron, 57, passed away at home early Monday, May 18, 2009, surrounded by the loving arms of her family and friends. Holly was born on June 20, 1951, in McKeesport, Pa. She grew up in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Holly was a dedicated educator for more than 30 years. She taught in the Palm Beach County School System for most of her career and was loved and respected by her students, their parents, and her co-workers. Holly then taught for many years in the Athens and Atlanta area while she obtained her Education Specialist degree. She eventually transitioned to educational administration until she retired in 2006.
Holly was a gifted and prolific artist. She found her passion through art and spent much of her retirement creating beautiful pieces at her Tannery Row Artist Colony studio in Buford where she also forged many friendships with fellow artists.
She is survived by her mother, Joyce (Raymond) Follador; father, Robert (Teresita) Herron; sisters, Lory (Lynn) Kirby, Genna (Peter) Saxe; brothers, Robb (Paula), Kelly (Kimberly), Rand Herron; nieces, Shauna (Jason) Lewis, Carley (Daniel Kozan) Herron, Amy Kirby (David) Parker; nephews, Joshua (Brooke) and Tyler Herron, Cameron Potter, Ross (Nicole Stockamp) Kirby; grandnephew, James Kozan; half-sister, Cristina (William) Ventura and their three sons, Jesse, Caleb, and Benjamin; dear friends, Hanon Combs, Janet Wulff, Chad Prescott.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 23, at 6 p.m. at the home of Hanon Combs in Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to your local hospice organization.
Neptune Society in Ft. Myers, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.
