Hoyt Clay Smith, age 91, went to meet his Heavenly Father Thursday, May 4, 2017, at 6:40 a.m. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Janell Nix Smith; two children, Tony (Laura) A. Smith of Cumming, and Barbara (Randy) S. Roper of Dawsonville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Hoyt was a member of Ophir Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, choir director and song leader. He was also a veteran of WWII, a member of Redwine Lodge, and a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith were held on Saturday, May 6, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Frazier, Clyde Boling, Troy Milford and Gary Keown. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
