James Archie McPherson, age 58, of Cumming passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010. Archie attended Friendship Baptist Church in Cumming where he was a member of the finance committee, the choir and Sweet Assurance Sunday school class. He was also a Mason in the Ducktown Lodge #572 F&AM. He was also a girl's softball coach for many years, where he won many state championships and a fourth place world championship.
Archie was preceded in death by his son, Greg McPherson; his parents, James Monroe and Eula Smith McPherson; and father-in-law, Ivan A. McBrayer.
Archie is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Rebecca McPherson; daughter and son-in-law, Kasey and Chris Chester; mother-in-law, Elvira McBrayer; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Charlene Lathem, Barbara and Jerry Bagley, all of Cumming; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Byrd, the Rev. Bud Sutton and the Rev. Donnie McGee officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home Monday, Dec. 20, from 5-9 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 21, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
