Mr. James "Jimmy" A. Coats, age 62, of Covington passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he received two purple hearts and many other medals. He will always be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Jeana Coats of Jackson, S.C., Johnny and Kim Coats of Auburn; fiancée, Tammy Woody of Covington; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Samuel and Bonnie Coats of Dawsonville, Howard and Janice Coats of Griffin; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Arbin Martin of Dawsonville; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, May 2, at 4 p.m. in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Anglin officiating. Interment will follow in Roswell Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 1, from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday, May 2, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
