James David Herring, 59 of Cumming passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his residence. He was a native of Fulton County, were he graduated from Fulton County High School, and was also a graduate of West Georgia College where he was a member of the KAPPA SIGMA fraternity. Mr. Herring retired after 32 years with Equifax where he served as Senior Vice President. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Polo Golf and Country Club. He was also a member of Cumming First United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mabel White of England.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Herring of Cumming; parents, Jimmie and Verdella Herring of Griffin; children, Brandon and Sara Herring of San Francisco, Calif., Ashley and Craig Pope of Princeton, N.J.; stepson, Justin Woodhead and Becky of England; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen Howarth, Pauline Turner, Paul White and Moyra Burnett; granddaughter, Sasha Woodhead; and beloved nieces and nephews of England.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 17, at 1 p.m. at Cumming First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Pruess. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 16, from 6-9 p.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Northside Forsyth Hospital, New Baby Unit. God takes a Life, and gives a Life.
