Rev. James Lamar "Spud" Pruitt, age 79, of Cumming passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009. He was a Baptist minister for 34 years and pastored several churches. Mr. Pruitt retired from G.M. after 30 years of service.
Spud was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Harley and Ali Pruitt; stepmother, Sallie Pruitt; daughter, Joan Pruitt, brothers, Jimmy and Luther Pruitt; and sister, Christina Pruitt.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Pruitt; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Wilson and Jane Pruitt; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Mike Johns, Brenda and Rev. Billy Mullinax, JoAnne and Darrell Burruss, Debra and Daniel Densmore; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Mary Pruitt of Buford, Rev. Carrell and Wonnie Pruitt, Rev. Cecil and Montez Pruitt and Bobby and Sandra Pruitt, all of Cumming; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie Pruitt, Vernice and Roy Sweatman, Fern and C.T. Evans, Ruby and Donald Bagley, Nancy and Ricky Hood, all of Cumming; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 9, at 2 p.m. in the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Henderson, the Rev. Clark Watson and the Rev. Tim Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Corinth Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Monday, June 8, from 3-9 p.m.
