James Oliver Cole, 76, of Cumming passed away March 20, 2010, at Embracing Hospice House. Born in Hapeville, he was the son of the late Emmett and Hessie Cole.
Mr. Cole was a member of Hapeville Masonic Lodge #590 for more than 50 years and also was a Shriner. He was also a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Red Oak. He worked for Delta Airlines for 35 years and served as a bailiff for Clayton County.
Mr. Cole is survived by his bride of 53 years, Nita L. Cole of Cumming; daughter, Cathy (Scott) Cunningham of Flowery Branch; grandson, Lyman Scott Cunningham Jr. of Flowery Branch; granddaughter, Emily Nicole Cunningham of Cumming; sisters, Helen Wanty of Appleton, Wis., Merle Logue of Cumming; sister-in-law, Louise Cole of Canton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 23, from 2-4 p.m. and from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
