Jay Strickland, 56, of Cumming passed away on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009. Jay was an avid hunter, golfer, pool shooter and member of APA. He loved taking trips on his Harley Davidson with his wife, Becky, and friends.
The son of the late Jimmy and Shirley Strickland, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Marion and Kim Strickland; in-laws, Ralph and Mary Thornton; and sister-in-law, Rhonda Christensen.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Becky Strickland of Cumming; daughters, Micki (Joey) Plaza of Pennsylvania, Brittany Strickland of Cumming; granddaughter, Lexi Plaza of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Beth Mayo and children Mark, Daniel, Laura and Megan of Gainesville; sister, Judy (Frank) Foy of Wilmington, N.C.; brother, Alan Strickland of Charlotte, N.C.; several nieces, nephews and other extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. David McGee, the Rev. Ruel Martin and Chad Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, Nov. 12, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
