Mrs. Jean Bridges Woolard, 81, of Roswell passed away peacefully Jan. 15, 2012, at the Altus House, surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 16, 1930, in Enterprise, the daughter of Gussie Hamm and Thomas Bridges. She was the youngest of 15 children. She married James Loris Woolard April 13, 1952, and they had five children, Diana, Sylvia, Loris, Joan and Wes. Jean was preceded in death by her husband in 1983 and never remarried.
She was a loving mother, wife, homemaker and friend. She enjoyed the outdoors and would often be seen in Roswell taking her daily walks. Living along the Chattahoochee River, she enjoyed nature and the surrounding wildlife. Jean was devoted to her family and took great joy in time spent with her siblings, her children and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Woolard of Atlanta; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Bob Nocon of Roswell; daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Michael Jackson of Stevenson Ranch, Calif.; son, Loris Woolard of Alpharetta; son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Lisa Woolard of Cumming; 11 grandchildren, Robert Morrow, Kate Barnett, Molly Woolard, Claire Woolard, Amelia Nocon, Addison Jackson, Aidan Jackson, Weston Woolard, Annalise Woolard, Bryson Woolard and Colin Woolard; three great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Fallon Barnett and Holden Morrow; sisters, Virginia Hammond, Laura Bridges, Elree Worley and Dot Cecchini; and brother, Simon Bridges.
Visitation and funeral will be held at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Sandy Springs Thursday, Jan. 19. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and the funeral at 1:30 p.m., with a graveside service at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in Atlanta and reception at the church.
