Mr. Jesse David Hitt, age 78, of Buford passed away on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Hitt Pearman; brother, John Henry Hitt; and sister, Eleanor Coltrain.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margie Stewart Hitt of Buford;
daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Lynn Dampier of Moultrie, Robin and Billy Davis of Buford; son-in-law, Rod Pearman of Buford; special daughter,
Sheila and Jeff Autry and son, Zack of Jefferson; grandchildren, Kim Davis,
Kristen Keen, Brian Davis, Dr. Loucinda Dampier Sawinski and husband Adam,
Leslee Dampier Bryan and husband Joseph, Trey Dampier; great-grandson, Job Bryan; brother and sister-in-law, T.M. and Annette Hitt of Cumming; sister,
Imogene Moose of Snellville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Garston Green of Cumming, Lillian Mullinax of McDonough, Louise and Roger Smith of Buford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Hitt was a native of Cherokee County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines having served in the Korean War for two years and six months. He was a retired T.V. and V.C.R. repairman with Sears, Roebuck & Company for more than 30 years. He was a member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee where he was a former Sunday school teacher and a weekly Bible study leader. He loved his family and will be greatly missed. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and carpenter.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Davis and the Rev. Bobby Linkous officiating. Interment followed at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford with military honors. The grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 4 p.m. until the funeral hour.
