John Martin Devenney, 66, of Dawsonville passed away at his home June 8, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Marshall, Mich., he was the son of the late Martin and Dorothy Devenney. 
John graduated from Marshall High School in 1966. John married Linda Peace on Feb. 8, 1969, in Albion, Mich. John served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and worked for State Farm Insurance for the last 15 years.
He loved spending time with his entire family. He was a life-long NASCAR fan. In his spare time he enjoyed camping and trips to the ocean with his wife.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Devenney of Dawsonville; son, Shawn Devenney and his wife Stacy of Cumming, daughter, Heather Smith and her husband Charles of Lawrenceville; brothers, Dick Devenney of Florida and Randy Devenney of Texas; sisters, Sueanne Schrock of Texas, Marsha Everingham of Michigan, Tina Devenney of Michigan; and much loved grandchildren, Taylor Devenney, Hunter Devenney-Shultz and Baylee Smith.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 12, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery.The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 11, from 5-7 p.m.
