Chief Petty Officer, John Thomas Harrison, U.S. Navy (Retired), 73, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, in his home in Cumming. He retired from the Navy in 1977 with 20 years of service. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, he was best known for his loyalty and generosity.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Mary A. Harrison; daughter, Melody Fogle; daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Scott Taylor; grandchildren, Scott and Amy Bennett, Hannah, Harrison, and Griffen Taylor; sister, Janelle Dowell; brothers-in-law, Charles, Kenneth, and Richard Lumpkin; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. at Cumming Baptist Church, with Dr. Barry Crocker officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home Sunday, Nov. 17, from 3-8:30 p.m. and Monday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. until time of service.
