Mr. Joseph Perkins, born June 13, 1932, in Macon, to Arthur DeWitt Perkins and Estell Arrington, passed away Aug. 24, 2010. He was a devoted Christian, enjoyed golf, boating, camping and spending time with his family. He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Korean War, attended Georgia Institute of Technology and was a sales executive in the packaging industry, retiring with Federal Paperboard in 1997.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Lou Perkins of Cumming; his only child, John Bradley Perkins; grandchildren, John Tyler Perkins, Megan Elisabeth Perkins; his only brother, Jimmie DeWitt Perkins; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 28, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Presbyterian Church in Cumming with the Rev. Bill Ford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Joe Perkins Memorial Fund, Parkway Presbyterian Church, 5830 Bethelview Road, Cumming, GA 30040.
