Judith Lenore Parsley, age 78, of Cumming passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015.
Born in Whiteville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Shade and Gertrude Walker. She is preceded in death by her husband, Solon Eugene Parsley.
Judy was a lifelong nurturer. She studied for a nursing career but becoming a mother changed that direction. As her children grew, she took on the task of caregiver to the elderly, Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher and Girl Scout Leader. She also mentored many people through her leadership role in Weight Watchers. After raising her family, she turned her attention to elementary education, graduating from the University of South Carolina to become a teacher. She loved the children who came through her second grade classroom in her 20+ year career and was recognized as an exemplary teacher.
Judy was known for her love of animals, especially birds and rabbits. She loved to travel and she loved chocolate but most of all, she loved her family.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Wayne) Ezzell of Pacolet, S.C., Edward Parsley of Cumming; sister, Nadine Gerber of Auburn, Wash.; and her grandchildren, Samantha Shade and Morgan Celeste Parsley of Cumming; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, Dec. 20, at 1 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
