Karl Xander Obituary

Karl Robert (Bob) Xander, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at the Embracing Hospice Center after a short illness.
Bob was born Feb. 3, 1939 in Silver Spring, Md. He was the only son of Karl and Margaret (Burdett) Xander.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Olwen (AJ); three children, Jenny (Mill), Michael (Diane Conibear), and Matthew (Amanda McClellan); nine grandchildren, Emily, Benjamin, Nicholas, Thomas (Twigs), Gavin, Gretchen, Gwyneth, Hunter, and Abigail. Bob's grandkids often referred to him as "Grandpa Donut" because of his love for donuts and sweets.
After graduating from Columbia Union College in Tacoma Park, Md., Bob spent time teaching high school social studies which he always talked about as his most rewarding time. Later, Bob moved the family to Atlanta to be a valued member of the Honeywell Corporation. He followed Honeywell with many successful years serving the paper industry as an independent sales representative. In more recent years, Bob spent time driving a semi-truck as he always had talked about wanting to see the country from coast to coast. Bob also enjoyed his days marshalling at the Atlanta Athletic Club before he officially retired.
Bob's patriotic American pride was very important to him. His most treasured times were with family and friends, enjoying a cool glass of CC and Seven, with a Garcia Vega Cigar, and listening to music. He loved spending time at the family cabin in Blue Ridge and traveled frequently to Dolgellau, North Wales where his wife Olwen was born and raised. During retirement, Bob enjoyed playing golf all over the southeast as a member at the Monroe Country Club.
Details regarding the Celebration of Life event can be found on Bob Xander's Facebook page.
Bob had a genuine love for animals. Therefore, in lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Gwinnett Humane Society, 3724 Lawrenceville Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30044.
