Katherine Dykes Smith, 87, of Cumming passed away March 28, 2014, at Northside Hospital-Forsyth. Born in Heflin, Ala.., she was the daughter of the late John and Hattie Lou Dykes. She was also predeceased by her beloved husband, James Sibley Smith; son, James Henry Smith; and granddaughter, Janet Angela Nesbitt.
Katherine is survived by her daughter, Joyce Smith Fisher of Cumming; numerous nieces and nephews; and cherished friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31, at 1 p.m. in the McDonald and Son Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, at the Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery in Jakin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 31, from noon to 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations in Katherine's name to the Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 125 6677 State Road 39, Jakin, GA 39861.
