Kathy Elizabeth Pilgrim, 62, of Cumming, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2018. Kathy was born on July 26, 1955 in Marietta, GA, the daughter of David A. McCampbell, who predeceased her, and Vivian Perrow McCampbell who survives her.
Kathy grew up in Smyrna, Georgia, where she attended F.T. Wills High School. After high school, Kathy moved to Denver, Colorado, but eventually made her way back home to Georgia, where she met and married the love of her life, Nathan, in 1979.
Not quite a year after their wedding, Kathy and Nathan welcomed a baby girl, Lyndsei. Kathy loved her daughter fiercely, and focused her life's efforts on raising and ensuring an amazing life for her family. She always believed in family first and she made sacrifices so that her family would not want or need for anything . . . especially love.
In December 2016, Kathy's heart and love grew bigger and began to overflow when she welcomed her first and only grandchild, Elise, into the world. As was the case when Lyndsei was growing up, Kathy was always there with open arms. She was there with hugs and kisses, and a mission to fulfill her grandmotherly duties of spoiling Elise rotten. But, not only that, she was also always there to offer invaluable advice and encouragement to the new mom. Kathy was a shining example of everything anyone would ever want in a daughter, wife, mother, or grandmother.
Today, in addition to her mother, Kathy is survived by her husband, Nathan, her daughter, Lyndsei (Joshua Pacini) of Atlanta, GA, and her granddaughter, Elise. She is also survived by her extended family and her friends. Kathy loved all of these people with every single bit of her heart and she will be incredibly missed by all. The world will truly not ever be the same without her.
As we say our goodbyes, the family will receive friends on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 3pm to 4pm at McDonald and Son Funeral home. A funeral service will follow at 4pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery at a later date.
