Mrs. Katie Hurt Penticoff, age 91, of Temple passed away Monday, June 8, 2009, after an extended illness. Mrs. Penticoff retired from the hospitality industry after 40 years of service. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cumming. Katie was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Penticoff was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Penticoff; three brothers, Hoyt Martin, George Martin, and Ford Martin; five of her children, Randall T. Hurt, Nettie Karakos, B.L. Hurt, Betty Blake, and C.B. Hurt Jr.
Survivors include her son, Jack Hurt of Smyrna; brother, Ed Martin of Marietta; sisters, Annie Belle Tatum and Elsie Daniel, both of Decatur, Irene Tatum of Toccoa; 25 grandchildren: 45 great-grandchildren: 22 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 11, at 1 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Cumming with the Rev. Dennis Bottoms officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 11, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home.
