Kerry Neal Faulkner, 36, of Lawrenceville passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2009. Kerry was born June 9, 1973, in Carrollton to Frank and Juanita Faulkner, and was raised in Dothan, Ala. He worked at his family's business, Dothan Portable Buildings, before furthering his education. Kerry earned an associate's degree in applied science from Wallace College in Dothan, Ala., specializing in electrical technology. He earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Mercer University in Macon, specializing in mechanical engineering with a minor in chemistry.
Kerry had been employed with Oglethorpe Power Corporation for more than 10 years. He was an accomplished leader with many achievements within his job. Kerry led as well as developed innovative projects which in turn saved consumers and his company millions of dollars. He was an OPC Next Level Award Winner in 2007, and played a vital role in Oglethorpe's Biomass Project.
While Kerry may not have played in a while due to his children's arrival, he also loved tennis, as it was a family sport during his childhood. Kerry wanted to pick up the game of golf but wouldn't take the time away from his children to learn. He would always say he would much rather be with his kids.
Kerry was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He was the former chapter president, active in the power division. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi. He was a lifetime member of the National Engineering Honors Society. Kerry was also active in various community charity programs.
Kerry was a God fearing man who studied the Bible with his wife to help her find a better understanding. He always enjoyed her questions and comments and very few times did he not have an answer for her concerning the Bible or God. Kerry was raised with religion and never lost faith.
Kerry was the very backbone to his family. He loved his children and wife more than you could ever measure. He was a wonderful and loving father and husband. Kerry was an excellent provider as well as teacher to his children.
Kerry was preceded in death by his father, Frank Martin Faulkner; his sister-in-law, Wendy; friends, Scott, Giles, Woody, Matt, and the Shores family.
Kerry leaves the love of his life and the mother of his children, Tanya Lynn Faulkner; his beautiful blue-eyed daughter, Kinnidi Fallon Faulkner; and his beautiful blue-eyed son, Justis Gage Faulkner; stepsons ("my boys") Jordan Hunter Shores and Gavin Orion Shores; his baby brothers, Danny and Marty, to whom Kerry wanted to be their friend as well as their brother and to help ease the pain of the passing of their father, Frank. Kerry's relationship with Danny brought so much joy to his life and made him smile that "full body smile". Kerry also leaves Danny's kind and considerate wife, Pam and their young daughter, Jaylee; his mother, Juanita Faulkner; his brothers, Tracy and Mark; his sister, Myrna; father-in-law and friend, Henry; sister and brother-in-law, Christy and Paul.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 7 p.m. at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel with Dr. Lamar Holley officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel.
