Larry Carroll, 64, of Jefferson, formerly of Cumming, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 15, 2012, after a nine-year battle with frontal temporal dementia. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was born in Mobile, Ala. He was a member of First Baptist Church Cumming and was active in the Forsyth County Lions Club. In 2000, he retired from Lucent Technology after 33 years. His hobbies included fishing, hiking, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Herbert Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy of Jefferson; parents, James and Nell Carroll of Cumming; brother, Jim Carroll of Cumming; daughters and sons-in-law, Alicia and Bryan Hamrick of Jefferson, Katie and Barry Garmon of Jefferson; grandchildren, Emily and Matt Hamrick, Caroline, Elizabeth, and Natalie Garmon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Sherry Davis of Sharpsburg; mother-in-law, Frances Davis of Newnan, formerly of Cumming.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 19, at 4 p.m. at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens, with Dr. Bob Jolly officiating. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home Wednesday, July 18, from 6-9 p.m. and Thursday, July 19, from 2-3 p.m.
