Mrs. Lerah Sterling Tyson, age 89, of Cumming passed away June 10, 2013. Lerah was a member of Cumming Baptist Church where she taught the Seekers Sunday School class for 15 years. She graduated from the University of Montevallo in Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Etta Sterling; and sisters, Marjorie Braswell and Barbara Wilborn.
She is survived by her husband, Clifford Leroy Tyson; children, Charlene (Jimmy) Hutchinson of Adel, Marilynn (Bobby) Walker of Cumming, Ed (Debbie) Tyson of Buford, Angela (Scott) Carlin of Cumming; siblings, Virginia Abney, Dorcas Hattery, Myrtle Penland, Lewis Sterling Jr., Patsy Usry; grandchildren, Sherry (Chris) Johnson, Brian Hutchinson, Tiffany (Allen) Dixon, Dustin (Jessica) Baker, Joni (Chris) Smith, Meredith Tyson; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Josh, and Seth Dixon, Natalie and Ansley Baker, Strider and Victoria Smith; a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Williams and the Rev. Danny Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, June 12, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of Georgia at alz.org/Georgia.
