Leroy "Buddy" Byars Jr., 70, of Dyersburg, Tenn., passed away March 4, 2011. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired from United States Steel after 25 years of service. He was the father of Marty Byars, the owner of Byars Funeral Home in Cumming.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Byars Sr.; brothers, Homer and Edward Byars; sisters, Faye Qualls and Betty Byars.
He is survived by his son, Marty L. and Cindy Byars of Cumming; daughter, Susan and Tim Dukes of Chicago, Ill.; brother, James Byars of Valparaiso, Ind.; sister, Sue Walker of Dyersburg, Tenn.; grandchildren, Macy Dukes, Taylor Byars, Shelton Byars and Paxton Byars.
The family will receive friends at the Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tenn., Monday, March 7, from 5-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 8, at 11 a.m. at the Meacham Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tenn.
Byars Funeral Home and Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, Tenn., are in charge of arrangements.
