Mable R. Markland, mother of Barbara Johnson and mother-in-law of James Johnson, passed away peacefully in Cumming on May 14, 2013, where she lived with Barbara and Jim Johnson since 2003. Her strong heart, iron will and positive disposition were unable to overcome the ravages of Alzheimer's disease just short of her 90th birthday.

Retired, she loved to travel, volunteer, garden and dance.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Scott, William Markland, Edward Ring; daughter, Bobbette Pippenger, PhD; sisters, Elsie Umbeck Kinnard, Marie Ferrier Mast; brother, Harry Hoyle.
Mable is survived and will always be love by her daughter, Barbara Johnson; six grandchildren, Kim, Robbie and Phil Jr. (Bobbette's
children) and Melissa, Chirs and Kevin (Barbara's children). Among her grandchildren are an MD, a PhD, three JDs (attorneys) and a successful entrepreneur, all whom appreciate her legacy. She will be missed by 11 gifted great-grandchildren. What a blessing. She will be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
A private, graveside burial service will be held at Galesburg Memorial Gardens where she will join her daughter, Bobbette, husbands William Markland, and parents, Elsie and Sidney Hoyle.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate in her name to the Alzheimer's Foundation or to the
