Marcus M. Gazaway, age 87, of Gainesville, born Aug. 10, 1927, went to his heavenly home Jan. 25, 2015. He was a member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church.
Marcus is preceded in death by his wife, Eulene Bennett Gazaway; parents, Tom and Eula Mae Gazaway; stepmother, Edna Hayes Gazaway; brothers, Brice, Ford, Ernest, Cline; sister, Jeanette Martin; great-grandson, John Palmer (J.P.) Hammond.
Survivors include his brother, Theo Gazaway of Gainesville; stepbrother, Gene Hayes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Beth Gazaway, Pierce (Betty) Bennett, Royce (Hilda) Bennett, Linda (Tyson) Gittens, Loyte (Gay) Bennett; children, Marshall (Gloria) Gazaway, Becky (Jake) Jacobs, Wanda Echols, all of Forsyth County; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Crossroads Hospice for the special care given to their father during his sickness.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Richards and the Rev. Greg Rawlins officiating.
Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
