Margie Stewart Hitt, age 83, of Buford passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, David Hitt; daughter, Pamela Hitt Pearman; mother, Zonie Samples Stewart; father, Ancil Stewart; and stepmother, Ruby Samples Stewart.
She is survived by her children, Robin and Billy Davis of Buford, Patricia and Lynn Dampier of Hendersonville, Tenn.; son-in-law, Rod Pearman of Dawsonville; special daughter, Sheila and Jeff Autry and son, Zack of Jefferson; grandchildren, Kim Davis, Kristen Keen, Brian and Ann Marie Davis, Dr. Loucinda Dampier Sawinski (Adam); Leslee Dampier Bryan and husband Joseph, Dr. Trey and Megan Dampier and son, Evans Dampier; five great-grandchildren; sisters and brother-in-law, Lillian Mullinax of McDonough, Mary Martin of Cumming, and Brenda and Tommy Estes of Ball Ground; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Jackie and Arlene Stewart of Canton, Jerry and Geraldine Stewart of Ranger; brother-in-law, Garston Green of Cumming; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Hitt was born July 17, 1933, in Cumming. She retired from Gwinnett County Public School System at North Gwinnett High School in the cafeteria. She was a former member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee, and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Buford.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, July 26, from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
Services were held Tuesday, July 26, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with the Revs. Michael Davis, Danny Newbern and Jackie Stewart officiating. Interment and graveside service followed at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, with the Rev. Matt Calvert officiating.
