Marjorie Wills (Mrs. James D.) Benson, age 85, of Cumming passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008. She was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Paulding County and graduated from Cumming High School in 1943. As young women she and her sister, Zelyah Tolbert, ran Cumming's first theater. She was a member of Cumming Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Benson worked for many years at Andean Motor Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Benson.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Benson of Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Jane Benson and Ken Bothwell of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Kenny and Elizabeth Bothwell; sisters-in-law, Virginia Davies of Griffin and Ruth Lambert of Cumming; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, George and Betty Benson of Cumming; special cousin, Kathleen McCarty of Cumming; several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 1, at 11 a.m. at Chapel of Cumming Baptist Church with Dr. Roger Williams officiating. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
