Mrs. Mary Ruth Wilson Grant, age 76, of Cumming passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2014. Mrs. Grant started as a secretary for the Doraville City Hall and was later promoted to City Clerk, serving in that role for 12 years prior to her retirement after 34 years of service.
Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her passions included sewing, quilting, gardening and collecting curios. The couple attended North Peachtree Baptist Church and First Redeemer Church for many years. After retirement, they later moved to Cumming where she enjoyed their life together tending to their flower and vegetable gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Harrison Wilson.
Mrs. Grant is survived by her husband of 53 years, James C. Grant Jr.; son, Gregory Grant and his wife Diane; and daughter, Ginger Grant Salmon and her husband Slade. Mary also enjoyed her six grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor and Taylor Grant and Micah, Mckenna and Masyn Salmon.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 18, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Grant family will receive friends Sunday, Aug. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Cumming.
