Maxie Jasper Hubbard, of Cumming and Athens passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, after a long illness. Born on Sept. 30, 1928, he was preceded in death by his mother and father, Irene and Toy Hubbard; his sister, Eunice Hubbard Bennett; mother and father-in-law, Anderson and Bertie (Akins) Holtzclaw; brother-in-law, Edward Holtzclaw; sister-in-law, Barbara Jean Holtzclaw Turner; and brother-in-law, Jerry Gibson all of Cumming.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma Lou (Holtzclaw) Hubbard; daughter, Maxine Hubbard Burton (Bob); granddaughter, Rachael Burton Dillon (Eddie); grandson, Michael Burton; great-grandchildren, Robbie, Ella and Lizzie Dillon; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bill Grove of Laurel, Md.; sister-in-law, Nellie Holtzclaw Gibson of Cumming; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 18, from noon until 9 p.m. Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Keith Martin, Roger Williams and Dr. Randy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hubbard retired from General Motors following 30 years of service. Former coworkers will be honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the following caregivers and physicians for their attention and loving care given to Mr. Hubbard. Liz Drahault, Beverly Adkins, Lydiah Okoth, Evaline Okello, Dr. Benjamin Holland, Dr. Rene MacKay, Dr. Henry DeWitt and Vonnie Chesser, PA.
