Mrs. Maxine M. Baggs, 74, of Jasper, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, following a period of declining health.
Born March 15, 1936, in Gilmer County, she was the daughter of the late Norman Holt. Mrs. Baggs had taught school and was employed by the Pickens County Board of Education. She was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Lawton Baggs of Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Brennice Baggs of Sugar Hill and Kenton and Stephanie Baggs of Jasper; her mother, Marie D. Holt of Ellijay; grandchildren, Thor Baggs, Karina Baggs and Alexa Baggs; great-grandchildren, Kasey Mangum, Hannah Cash and Lucia Cash; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Jack McDougald of Kennesaw and Belda and Steve Payne of Ellijay; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Judy Holt of Morganton, Dan and Elaine Sanford of Greenfield, Tenn., and Rex and Kristin Holt of Hoschton; many in-laws; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010, at the Roper Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Billy Emmett and the Rev. Von J. Hinton will officiate, with the interment to follow in the Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Roper Funeral Home from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.
The family will accept flowers, however, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
