Mr. Melvin W. Parsell, age 78, of Cumming passed away Friday, June 20, 2008, at his home. Born in Blacksburg, Va., Mr. Parsell moved with his family to Atlanta in 1968. For many years he owned his own business, National Tech Systems. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Parsell is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Dudley Parsell, who died Sunday, June 15, 2008. They were high school sweethearts.
Survivors include his children, Cindy Parsell Butler of Marietta, Wanda Parsell Cole of Flowery Branch, Mike Parsell of Sugar Hill, Sharon Parsell Drake of Sugar Hill and Mark Parsell of Loganville; sister, Ernestine Patterson of Roanoke, Va.; brothers, Alfred Parsell of Lynchburg, Va., and Maynard Parsell of Tazewell, Va.; nine grandchildren, Samantha Butler Toney, Quay Butler, Jason Cole, Billy and Guy Rush, Courtney and Katie Ragan, Jesse and Trevor Parsell; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Carson and Scott Toney.
A memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Parsell will be held Saturday, July 12, at 3 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Cathy officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens with military honors for Mr. Parsell.
The family will receive friends the hour prior to the service at Ingram Funeral Home.
