Michelle Lynn Garcia, age 50, of Cumming passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Northside Hospital after a nine year battle with breast cancer. Michelle was born in Richmond, Va., to Ronald Francis Yatteau and Ellen Katherine Savage Yatteau.
Michelle is survived by her husband, Benigno Garcia Jr.; two children, Alexander Garcia, and Elisa Garcia; father, Ronald Yatteau; mother, Ellen Yatteau; sister, Lisa Marie Ritchie; brother, Ronald Yatteau Jr; and her extended family including stepmother, Anne Yatteau; stepsister, Kim Yatteau Quigley; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Kay Yatteau.
Michelle attended Knoxville Catholic High School before attending the University of Tennessee. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. Michelle was always smiling, upbeat and made everyone around her feel comfortable and at ease. She enjoyed gardening, decorating and entertaining, she also loved volunteering. Michelle worked as an interior designer before her diagnosis, and became an advocate for breast cancer awareness afterwards. She, and her wonderful friends, raised money to help find a cure and "pay it forward", by participating in the walks.
Michelle will have a combined memorial service and celebration of her life Friday, March 24, at the Windermere Lodge, 4444 Front Nine Dr., Cumming, GA 30041. Visitation time is from 4-6 p.m. A prayer service will commence at 6 p.m. Following the service a Celebration of Michelle's life will be held.
Memorial contributions should be made out to: "" and mailed to Michelle's address: 3925 Three Chimneys Lane, Cumming, GA 30041. These contributions will go towards Michelle's 3-Day team, who will be walking in her honor this year.
