Mr. James Edward Scoggins, age 61, of Gainesville passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Mr. Scoggins was born Nov. 4, 1953, in Augusta. He graduated from South Hall High School and was employed as a building contractor. James was an excellent carpenter and master of woodworking. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his sister, Pam June Scoggins Pavlovec; and his grandparents, Winfred and Agnes Glisson Simpson.
James was a loving, well-known father figure to many and enjoyed living his life to the fullest.
Mr. Scoggins is survived by his wife, Stephanie Canup Scoggins of Gainesville; his sons, Adam Scoggins, and Alan Scoggins, both of Gainesville; his parents, Horace Daniel and Peggy June Simpson Ownes of Gainesville; and his sisters, Denise Scoggins of Harahan, La., and Lydia Scoggins Long of Anderson, S.C.; and countless nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 4, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Rev. David Simpson will officiating.
