Nancy Worley Swinson, age 74, of Cumming passed away Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born and raised in Forsyth County and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She worked for the Forsyth County government for 27 years prior to her retirement in 2006. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and "Memaw", as well as a dear friend.
She was generous and kind to those in need. She enjoyed working in her garden and sharing her flowers with others. Her special gift of thoughtfulness was in sending cards and notes of remembrance to many family, friends and co-workers throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Redger R. and Maggie H. Worley; sister, Frances Louwellen Anderson.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Melvin R. Swinson; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie (Travis) Hutchins of Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, Brad (Vickie) Swinson of Cumming; sisters, Sue (Julian) Eidson of Roswell, Barbara (David) Lee of Marietta; two grandchildren, Alex Hutchins of Cumming, Jacqueline Swinson; aunt, Mattie Bell Whitmire of Cumming; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church Arbor, with the Rev. Dennis Bottoms and the Rev. Jerry Orr officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home Friday, Aug. 10, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.
