Nellene Savannah Bannister Dooley, age 84, of Cumming, passed away Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church where she was in the Oasis Choir and Adult II Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Good Time Senior Band in Stone Mountain. Nelle loved to play cards with her friends, as well as bird watching and growing flowers. She loved dancing and taught many people how to do the Charleston. She was also a graduate of the Big Johns Clogging Class. Nelle loved Southern gospel music, especially the Gaithers. She was also an excellent Southern cook best known for her wonderful biscuits and was impeccably dressed at all times.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Neal Dooley; and her son, James Dooley.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and David McLaughlin; son, Eddie Dooley, all of Cumming; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Harley Bennett of Dawsonville; brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Donna Bannister of Gainesville; and her "Precious Angel Dolls" four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. in Concord Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Burgess and Dr. Lester Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Eternal Hills Cemetery in Snellville. The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 8, from 1-9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. until hour of service.
