Patrick A. "Pat" Travisano, age 85, formerly of Marietta, left this earth on Sept. 23, 2009. Pat's passion was his family - spending many summers at the beach, celebrating the holidays together and watching his grandchildren grow up. Upon graduation from Newark College of Engineering, Pat served in the Navy during World War II. He then went on to work for 34 years with GE and retired as regional vice president of engineering for I&SE. After retirement he worked diligently with the Cobb County SCORE to help entrepreneurs develop business plans to get their businesses off the ground and into fruition. Despite having only girls, it never stopped him from tossing around the ball, shooting hoops or playing tennis with them.
Pat was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jessie; and daughter, Phyllis Travisano.
Pat leaves behind his sister and her husband, Ann and Vincent Simonetti of New Jersey; four of his five daughters and their spouses, Ginny and Larry Williams of Sugar Hill, Donna and Colin Hines of Plant City, Fla., Patty and Lee Smith of Plant City, Fla, Maria and Mike Cira of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Brian and Greg Williams, Patrick and Kristina Hines, Lisa and Stephanie Smith, Matthew and Taylor Cira; great-grandchildren, Heaven and Gavin Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends are asked to join his family at the Byars Funeral Home in Cumming on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Mass will be held immediately following at 1 p.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Cumming. Burial will be held Monday, Sept. 28, at 10 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, Pat and his family request donations be made to American Hospice, 8013 Majors, Road, Cumming, GA 30040. Without their loving care, Pat and his wife Jessie would not have passed from this earth in the grace and style they deserved.
