Paul Gibel, age 46, of Cumming passed away April 6, 2012, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer. Paul was born June 7, 1965, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Suzanne Gibel and the late Paul Kenneth Gibel. Paul earned a seat on the U.S. Rowing Team and attended Temple University in Philadelphia on a full rowing scholarship.
Paul married Kristine and moved to Cumming in 1990, and raised their four children, Courtney, Michael, Sean and Jake.
Paul is survived by his wife, Kristine; children, Courtney, Michael, Sean, Jake of Cumming; mother, Suzanne of Philadelphia, Pa.; sister, Marian Venezia of Collegeville, Pa.; and many other family members also survive. Paul will forever be in their hearts.
A private family memorial service celebrating Paul's life will be held Tuesday, April 10, with the Rev. Mike Schmid officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul's memory to St. Jude's Children Hospital at www.stjude.org.
The family wishes to thank all of the friends, prayer warriors, doctors, nurses and medical staff that showed such love, care and compassion to Paul. Your kindness made a difference in his life.
