Ralph Edward Johnson, 65, of Cumming passed away Aug. 21, 2012. Born in Clarkesville, he was the son of the late Barnett (KB) and Rosalea Johnson. Ralph served in the U.S. Army, retired from Lucent Technologies, and recently worked as an attendant with Kroger Fuel Center. For many years he served as a volunteer fireman and as a member of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Posse.
Ralph was an avid ham radio enthusiast and enjoyed speaking with people all over the world. He also had a great love of the north Georgia mountains and that region's history. Among his greatest joys were playing with his new grandson and engaging in political debates.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cora Louise Johnson of Cumming; daughter, Colette Johnson (Chuck Clineff) of Cumming; daughter, Amanda (Chris) Garrett and grandson Alex Garrett of Greenville, S.C.; brother, Terry Johnson of Nelson; sister, Valerie Emmett of Arabi; sister, Louise Hamby of Nelson; sister, Retha Coltrane of Ball Ground; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 3 p.m. in the McDonald and Son Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.
