Richard Nicholas Willis, age 65, of Cumming passed away Nov. 12, 2013. Born in Shreveport, La., Richard was a Vietnam veteran who served as platoon sergeant in the Army from 1969-1971. Then, over a career that included 20 years with Halliburton Services and more than 20 years as an industrial services consultant, his work took him all over the U.S. and to international projects in Russia, Kuwait, Nigeria, Vietnam, Wales, Germany, and Mexico.

He was the son of the late Joseph Noel Willis and Asielee Becks Willis.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Patey Willis; brother, Joe (Gloria) Willis of Shreveport, La.; sister, Barbara Raye of Waco; and sisters-in-law, Patrecia (John) Zebrowski of Cumberland, R.I., Camellia Patey of Buffalo Grove, Ill.
A visitation and memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. to noon at the McDonald and Son Funeral Home.
Throughout his professional life, Richard especially enjoyed mentoring young engineers, so in lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made to the University of Tennessee Foundation Inc. designated for the UT Knoxville Engineering Co-op Gift Fund, College of Engineering Development Office, 120 Perkins Hall, Knoxville, TN 37996-2012.
