Robert Charles Holbrook, 90, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, Sept. 26, 2013. He was a native of Forsyth County. He was born in 1923 to Estelle Stewart and Robert Lee Holbrook. He attended Forsyth County schools and served as Machinist Mate, First Class in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

He married Latrelle Montgomery in 1944, who preceded him in death in 2007. He was also preceded in death his by grandson, Robert (Robbie) Tindal Holbrook.
He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration Radar Center. Charlie was a member of Hapeville Masonic Lodge, active church member of Hapeville First UMC and later Cumming First UMC and Pleasant Grove UMC. Charlie was known for his love of life, wonderful sense of humor and his beautiful voice. He sang in all the church choirs and was an avid golfer. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and delivered Meals on Wheels well into his 80's.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Bob) Jack Holbrook and wife Barbara; daughter, Brenda Holbrook Griffin and husband David; grandchildren, Leigh Holbrook, Caroline Holbrook, Adam Griffin, Stephen Griffin; step grandchildren, Albert and Alex Smith; seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 30, at 1 p.m. at Cumming First United Methodist Church, officiated by Dr. Jeff Ross and assisted by the Rev. Alex Smith.
