Robert Gaston Bennett Jr. was born June 24, 1924, in Atlanta and passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, in Snellville. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1948, after service in World War II as an Army Air Force B-24 pilot. He was a member of Lawrenceville First Baptist Church and was active in the Disciples Sunday school class and Saints Alive! senior program.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gaston Bennett Sr. and Mary Lou Edmondson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anndine Richardson Bennett of Stone Mountain; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Gaston Bennett III and Victoria Volk Bennett of Cumming; daughter and son-in-law, Luanna Bennett Petti and Dana Joseph Petti of Doraville; son, Edwin Aldine Bennett of Lawrenceville; granddaughter, Katherine Ann Petti (attending Harvard University) of Doraville.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, at 4 p.m. at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel with the Rev. Inman Houston and Dr. Lamar Holley officiating. Interment will be at Gwinnett Memorial Park in Lawrenceville. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, from 4-7 p.m. and on Saturday, May 23, one hour prior to the service at Wages and Sons Gwinnett Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lawrenceville First Baptist Church, Fulfilling the Dream Fund, 165 South Clayton Street, Lawrenceville, GA 30045.
