Rosalie Garner Bannister, 90, formerly of Melbourne, Fla., and Cumming, peacefully passed into the arms of the Lord on Nov. 23, 2011. She was born Jan. 27, 1921, in Atlanta. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Lt. Col. Lawton K. Bannister, Air Force, Retired; and her brother, Cecil K. Garner.
She graduated from Crawford W. Long School of Nursing in 1944 and worked as a registered nurse for more than 44 years. She served as a 2nd LT. in the Army Nurse Corps, European Theater, World War II.
She is survived by two children, Kay Amelia Bell (Harvey), Steve John Bannister (Silvia); three grandchildren, Karen Gwidt (Jesse), Albert Bell (Katheryn), Jacqueline Wright (Eric); and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Martin officiating.
Memorial contributions may be sent to either Deer Creek Shores Presbyterian Church, 7620 Lanier Drive, Cumming, GA 30041; or Pineda Presbyterian Church, 5650 North Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL 32940.
