Sara Elizabeth Godfrey Curtis, born Sept. 20, 1921, in Rabun County, to Allen Frank and Ludie Kimsey Godfrey, passed away July 1, 2011, in Washington, Georgia. Sara was a charter member of Cumming Baptist Church where she was active until her move to Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Carl B. Curtis; daughter, Dee Anna C. Blalock; and son, Carl B. Curtis Jr.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda C. and James M. Griggs Jr. of Washington, Ga.; son-in-law, James D. Blalock of Roswell; grandsons and their wives, Ken and Susan Brown of Dalton, Ted and Dianne Brown of Winder, Jay and Amy Griggs, and Jon and Noelle Griggs of Washington, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Stryker, Laura Beth and Landon Brown, Brennah, Maggie, Findlay and Ludie Griggs; sister-in-law, Dorothy Godfrey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; half sisters, Isabelle Bradsher and Mary Bradley of Clayton; half brother, Dick Godfrey of Clayton; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held July 3 at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming. Interment followed at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
