Shannon Earl Martin, age 49, of Cumming passed away peacefully Saturday, March 7, 2015.
He is now walking pain free on the glorious streets of gold with his Lord and Savior. Born Nov. 25, 1965, in Georgetown, S.C., a 1983 graduate of Stephens County High School, 1985 graduate of North Georgia Technical Institute. He has been employed with Industrial Repair Service for over 10 years. He was a devoted UGA football fan.
Shannon is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Eugene Martin and Barbara Edle Johnson; sisters, Catherine Annette Martin, Melissa Mae Scarborough; first wife, Lona "Gayle" Rice Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn M. Garrett-Martin; son, Zachary C. Johns; brothers, Charles "Buck" and Trina Bowen, Quincy Adam Martin; stepmother, Elaine Alewine Martin; stepsons, Rusty and Ashley Turner, Craig Turner; grandchildren, Charlotte, Garrett, Philip, Ethan, Mia, Avalyn, Carah, Kaitlyn, Dillon, Emma; "mother-in-love", Martha Dean Garrett; father-in-law, Howard and Polly Garrett; and many special friends, nieces, nephews and his beloved church family.
Services were held Tuesday, March 10, at 3 p.m. at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Bo Robinson, the Rev. Michael Cantrell and the Rev. Edwin Puckett officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.
