Stephen (Steve) Robert Simon, age 73, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, in Cumming, after a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born March 26, 1942, in Perth Amboy, N.J., to Stephen Louis and Ann Marie Simon.
Steve graduated from Albright College in 1964 with a Bachelors in Economics. He played football and baseball during his college years. Steve was an integral part of the 1960 Albright Lions football team, the first and the only undefeated, untied team in Albright College history of 150 years. Steve was selected to numerous All-Star Teams during these four years. His NCAA record of 9 interceptions in 1960 stood for nearly 40 years. He was a respected, loyal and trusted friend to many. Steve then attended West Virginia University where he received his MBA.
Steve went on to achieve a very successful career as a management consultant for various companies throughout North and South America. During his retirement years, he enjoyed his second career as a real estate consultant specializing in lakefront properties.
Steve loved to play golf, football, boating and exploring many lake and beach destinations. His favorite past time was reading, watching college and professional football games and golf tournaments.
Left to cherish Steve's memory are his beloved wife of 33 years, Marcia Brooks Simon; daughter, Leslie Simon; son, Stephen Simon; sister, Carol Aitken and her husband Bob; sister, Susan Almasy and her husband Dennis; further survived by other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. After the memorial service, guests are welcome to gather for food and beverages to celebrate Steve Simon's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Stephen Robert Simon to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Office of Gift Records, Emory University, 1762 Clifton Road. NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322 to the Head and Neck Cancer Fund.
