Steve Aven Dempsey, 63, of Suwanee found his peace Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. Steve was born in Atlanta in 1951 and spent his childhood there and in Chamblee. Over his life he also called Norcross, Lilburn, Alpharetta and Suwanee home.
He graduated from Chamblee High School in 1969 and from there was proud to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1970 to 1974. After honorable discharge, he sought employment in the automobile appraisal industry and worked in that field for 38 years. He established his own firm, Dempsey Appraisal Service Inc. in 1995, and it continues under the leadership of his sons David and Jonathan.
He was an enthusiastic gardener, woodworker and musician and he joyfully shared those exceptional skills with family and friends alike.
He is survived by his mother, Helen; wife, Kaye; sons, David and Jonathan; daughter-in-law, Amy; grandchildren, Jonathan, Julia, Jacob, Jordan and Harrison; and extended family.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming. A reception will immediately follow. The family welcomes you to join us and share your love and memories.
